Verra
Verified climate credits for our clients' offsetting needs

From 2000 to 2021, Earth lost 11% of its tree cover, impacting climate, biodiversity, and ecosystems. According to leading scientists from the IPCC, there's a way to reverse some of that damage - by protecting the forests we have, and by replanting in areas that have been cut down.

We offer our clients a unique possibility to directly offset their emissions, through VCS (VERRA) verified climate credits, investing directly in reforestation, with our chosen carbon capture project in Uruguay.

What does it take for a project to be VCS verified?

There are strict guidelines for Verra Carbon Standard (VCS) Projects. Here are 6 of the main ones:

Additionality

Projects must be considered "additional",  meaning that they must be genuinely reducing emissions beyond what would have happened naturally, or without the help of the project.

Real and Measurable impact

Projects should follow Verra-approved methodologies to make sure the CO2 reductions or removals can be measured and qualified thoroughly.

Cautious reduction estimates

Projects shouldn't overstate their emissions reductions, and should instead use conservative assumptions and values to measure how effective a project has been.

Permanence

Projects should be long-lasting, and protected against unforeseen events such as fire or disease, to ensure that emissions reductions or carbon removals are sustained over time.

Third-party verified

Projects must use an approved validation and verification body to make sure the project meets VCS criteria and that all GHG emission reductions or removals are quantified according to VCS requirements.

Uniquely numbered + listed

Projects must register with the Verra Registry operator to ensure each VCU is assigned a unique serial number and listed on the Verra Registry. This is to avoid double counting.

Transparency from start to finish

When Goodwings buys VCS carbon credits on your behalf, each comes with a unique serial number registered in the Verra Registry—the world’s most widely used voluntary GHG program. This registry holds detailed info about the project, its monitoring, and its environmental impact.

Each year, you’ll receive a Climate Impact Certificate with a unique link to your credits, showing how much CO2 you’ve reduced and removed with Goodwings.

About our project

Goodwings invests in a forestry project in Uruguay. Before 2006, the 23,000-hectare area was overgrazed by cattle, causing erosion and limiting CO2 storage. Since then, it’s been transformed into a growing forest that absorbs 56,019 tonnes of CO2 annually—the same as powering 10,000 homes for a year.

With FSC-certified management and Rainforest Alliance verification, the project stores CO2 in biomass, soil, litter, and dead wood, while also protecting wildlife and providing stable jobs, education, and healthcare to the local community.

Decarbonization made easy and affordable

Our 3-step approach follows the Science Based Targets Initiative and guides businesses towards proactive measures and collective impact.

This includes being able to easily invest in VCS verified carbon credits directly through Goodwings. We also offer the option to reduce emissions with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)—a cleaner alternative to conventional jet fuel.
